Vet Care
Beadle Lake Large Animal Clinic concentrates on the whole animal. To this end, they work not only to heal those in need, but to practice preventative medicine and life-enhancing therapies, as well.As a Large Animal Clinic, our location of service may be either your barn or farm, or our own clinic. Should your animal(s) require care, we would prefer they know (and use!) basic ground manners. Tranquilization will be administered if needed to perform a procedure and/or if safety is a factor. If we are coming to your bovine facility, it is always nice to have a head lock or chute available.
Routine Care
- Vaccinations for both horses and cattle
- Equine Dentistry
- Artificial Insemination for both horses and cattle (cooled-semen only at this time; no collection)
- Some Surgery, such as castration, cryptorchids, bone chips, and hernias
We encourage the use of protocols for routine events, such as pregnancy, foaling, vaccinations, and deworming. Click on any of the previous topics to see a typical protocol routine.
Emergency Care
The veterinarians at BLLAC are ready to handle your emergencies. The clinic is set up with three well-lit and clean work areas, two stalls, and a padded surgery/recovery stall. We try not to keep any animals overnight. Stocks are also available when needed.
If you cannot bring your animal to the clinic, we can come to you. The emergency pager is active every day when the clinic is closed. The pager accepts numerical entries; you may leave your phone number and a vet will be back with you shortly. If a response is not heard within 20 minutes, always call again, as errors are made and numbers don't always go through correctly.
Continuing Care
The veterinarians and staff at Beadle Lake Large Animal Clinic can even set up programs of continuing care for your horses or cattle. A few programs that may be customized for your animal(s) or farm are:
- Wellness
- Reproduction
- Nutrition
- Deworming
- Vaccinations
In fact, a custom Nutrition program for equines is considered very important in Michigan, as we live in a Selenium-deficient state. Proper management of this mineral is essential to your horses' wellness.
